About Us

Oates Energy is a fast-growing provider of utility submetering and billing solutions for residential and commercial properties. We deliver tech-enabled utility cost recovery, streamline operations for our clients, and ensure residents are billed fairly and accurately. As we continue to expand, we're seeking a hands-on, technically inclined Installation / Maintenance Technician to join our field services team.

Position Overview

As an Installation / Maintenance Technician, you'll be at the forefront of deploying and maintaining utility submetering technology, including water meters and RF (radio frequency) equipment. Working both independently and as part of a team, you'll ensure accurate installations, perform regular maintenance and meter readings, and support client satisfaction through professional service and communication.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving technical problems, and spending time in the field — with opportunities to grow into more advanced technical or supervisory roles as our company scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct monthly meter reads and ensure accurate data capture
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues with submetering systems
  • Interact with customers to explain installations and address service-related concerns

  • Use basic computer tools to log work, update reports, and communicate with internal teams
Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience in field service, installation, maintenance, or a technical trade
  • Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude with a hands-on approach
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  • Clear, professional communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently in various outdoor conditions
  • Proficiency with basic tools and safe work practices
  • Basic computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation
  • Ability and willingness to travel, primarily within the Jacksonville area with occasional nationwide trips
Why Join Us?
  • Competitive hourly pay with overtime potential
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) and paid time off
  • Supportive team culture with hands-on training
  • Career advancement opportunities in a growing industry
  • A chance to contribute to efficient water usage and sustainability efforts
