This position receives and processes requests for emergency and non-emergency assistance and dispatches emergency medical, law enforcement, fire, animal or other resources.
- Receives, screens, processes, and monitors emergency and non-emergency calls from the public; receives and processes calls and messages from other police and public safety agencies; receives visitors, screens requests, and contacts appropriate personnel or agency.
- Dispatches appropriate personnel to incident locations.
- Maintains communication with parties involved in emergency situations.
- Responds to requests from officers in regard to license plate, driver’s license, criminal history and other information.

- Possession of or ability to readily obtain North Carolina Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission Telecommunicator certification.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain DCI/NCIC certification.
