Repair and Tool Technician

Overview

Repair and Tool Technician role at The Home Depot. The position involves the evaluation and repair of small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices. Technicians may work in stores with Tool Rental Centers or in repair centers. In a store, technicians will be expected to provide service to store customers in Tool Rental, which includes writing customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, checking that tools are operating properly and demonstrating their proper use as needed.

In non-store locations, technicians will ensure units are repaired, tested for quality, and cleaned prior to returning to the store where the repair originated. Technicians must have thorough knowledge of all tools and effectively manage the tool inventory by maintaining and repairing them as necessary.

• Evaluate and repair small engines, outdoor power equipment, and handheld electrical devices.
• Provide service to customers in Tool Rental, write contracts and invoices for equipment rental and repairs, and demonstrate proper tool use as needed.
• Maintain day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the Tool Rental department.
• Ensure repaired units are tested for quality and cleaned before returning to the originating store (for non-store locations).
• Manage tool inventory and perform repairs as necessary.
