Airgas is hiring a Counter Sales Associate/Backup CDL Route Driver in Hickory, NC. In this role you will sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment to customers while providing excellent customer service. You will also act as a backup driver when needed.

• Sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment to customers.
• Assist customers through email, telephone, and walk‑ins.
• Solicit sales from new and existing customers and manage associated paperwork for future reference.
• Assist customers with loading/unloading cylinders, providing guidance on equipment use and needed materials.
• Monitor and maintain proper hardgoods and cylinder levels to minimize emergencies.
• Manage accounts receivable, discussing past‑due accounts and collecting payments.
• Ensure accurate completion of paperwork, including coding, costing, and pricing.
• Act as backup driver when necessary and operate equipment such as forklifts as required.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Class A CDL.
• Must have HAZMAT endorsement or be able to obtain the endorsement within 60 days of being hired.
• Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required.
• Ability to routinely lift 25–75 lbs. and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Ability to maintain a drug‑free workplace.
• Adherence to safety regulations and policies.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift experience.
• Touch freight delivery experience.
