An Epic Physician Billing Analyst (also known as an Epic Professional Billing Analyst) is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of the Epic Professional Billing module within a healthcare organization. This role is vital for ensuring accurate patient billing, claims processing, and reimbursement for services provided by individual healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities- System Configuration and Maintenance: configure and customize the Epic Professional Billing application to meet business needs and workflows; maintain the Resolute Professional Billing module; perform ongoing updates; build, test, and migrate system changes.
- Workflow Analysis and Optimization: analyze existing financial workflows; identify opportunities for improvement; design and implement best‑practice workflows; collaborate with IT, finance, and users.
- Support and Troubleshooting: primary support contact; provide end‑user support for Epic EMR and revenue cycle processes; troubleshoot billing, claims, and reimbursement issues; on‑call support.
- Training and
Education:
train and educate end‑users; develop internal procedures. - Compliance and Updates: keep current with Epic technologies, maintain certifications; ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations; review impact of new releases.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering or related; certification in Epic Professional Billing. - Technical
Skills:
expertise in Epic’s Professional Billing module (charge router, work queue, collection agency workflows, statement processing, benefit engine, estimates); system configuration and troubleshooting tools; proficiency with Microsoft Office. - Healthcare Industry Knowledge: understanding of revenue cycle, billing codes, insurance procedures; knowledge of CPT, ICD‑10; familiarity with difference between professional and hospital billing.
- Soft Skills:
strong interpersonal, communication, analytical thinking, problem‑solving, attention to detail, self‑motivation, teamwork.
