The Opportunity

Long Term Futures are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a small alternative provision secondary school within a Multi‑Academy Trust based in the High Peak (SK23). The provision supports students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and additional behavioural needs in a nurturing, structured, and highly supportive environment. This role involves supporting students across a range of subjects, including Maths, English, Science, and other core curriculum areas, helping learners re‑engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to support students with a range of additional learning and behavioural needs
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support across multiple subjects, including Maths, English, Science, and more
  • Support students to access the curriculum by adapting resources and learning strategies where required
  • Encourage engagement, focus, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour within the classroom
  • Assist students with coursework, organisation, and differentiated learning activities
  • Foster a safe, positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and the SEN department to adapt support strategies
Who We're Looking For
  • Level 3 qualification minimum and essential
  • Experience working with SEN students or within alternative provision settings is highly desirable
  • A patient, flexible, resilient, and nurturing approach to supporting young people
  • Confidence supporting learning across multiple subjects
  • Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and students
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
