ESL Tutor

Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Bi-lingual Education and in coordination with the classroom teacher, the ESL Tutor instructs students from bi-lingual homes, helping them with basic academic skills and with class assignments.

• Instruct students in basic academic skills and assist with class assignments.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support bilingual students.
• Provide individualized tutoring within scheduled sessions.

• High school graduation.
• Equivalence of two years (48 semester hours) of full-time higher education, an associate's degree, or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test.

• Proficiency in a second language and knowledge of a second culture.
• Ability to work well with students, teachers, and administrators.
• Patience and empathy when working with children.
• Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, English pronunciation, and reading comprehension.

4.0 hours per day, 166 days per year, Grade 3 $ 16.92 per hour (2025-26 Support Salary Table). This is a one‑year only position. Promotions result in a 5% minimum increase.
