Pay Range: $50,050 – $75,100
Education & ExperienceBachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) and a Master’s degree in Business, Nursing or Health Care Administration with five years of experience in a Level‑I Trauma Center required. Demonstrated leadership/management experience is required.
Licensure, Certification, and RegistrationCurrent RN license in the applicable state;
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required. Certification in Emergency, Critical Care, Neuroscience or Flight nursing required.
- Provides leadership to Trauma Services staff to ensure short and long‑term goals are met through the development of performance standards, capitalizing on employee strengths and supporting the Mission, Vision, Core Values and evidence‑based practice.
- Assures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing and continuing professional development for assigned personnel. Supervises the Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator, registrars and community outreach coordinators/educators for trauma and burn care.
- Collaborates effectively throughout the organization, region, and state through the establishment of effective, collegial networks throughout the Medical Center and referral region. Serves as organization representative for local, state and national trauma and burn associations.
- Ensures that Trauma Services are provided in accordance with the Medical Center mission, strategic plans, and all internal/external regulations, policies and procedures.
- In collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director, develops and monitors the Trauma Quality Improvement Program per ACS Level I Trauma standards. In collaboration with the Burn Medical Director, develops and monitors the Burn Program Quality Improvement program per American Burn Association standards. In collaboration with the Emergency General Surgery Medical Director, develops and monitors the development of the EGS Registry and subsequent Quality Improvement measures.
Ensures registry data is timely, accurate and reported to the appropriate disciplines. Promotes a culture of safety for patients, self and co‑workers in conjunction with the Director of Nursing and Medical Director. - Ensures community outreach and education within the referral area comply with ACS Level I Trauma standards and ABA Burn standards. Identifies trauma and burn‑specific educational needs and coordinates the planning/implementation and presentation of such programs. Collaborates with external and internal resources to facilitate the continuum of care for the trauma population through community education programs, Trauma Registry data management, Burn Registry data management, Emergency General Surgery Registry development and data management, and interdisciplinary patient care management.
- Assumes responsibility with the Director of Nursing and Medical Director for planning, development, implementation and monitoring of the budgetary process for the Trauma Services.
- Assures workload for staff is measured and resources allocated based on available benchmarks. Facilitates and monitors the appropriate utilization of staff based on credentials, education and experience. Collaborates with staff responsible for Medical Center contracting on pricing trauma services.
- Serves as unifying and integrating force to achieve Trauma Center goals and to assist in the success of the Medical Center.
- Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care is provided in accordance with Age‑Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served. The TPM facilitates integration of pre‑hospital, Emergency Department and inpatient services to ensure delivery of quality patient care specific to the age/developmental needs of the trauma patient population.
