Schedule

7:00 PM – 7:00 AM. Minimum 2 shifts per 6‑week scheduling period.

Pay Range

$19.45 – $29.20 per hour.

Job Description

The Nursing Assistant I performs basic patient care and related nursing tasks to provide high‑quality care consistent with the hospital’s mission, nursing philosophy, and standards. Responsibilities include assisting the Licensed Nurse with nursing care in stable patient situations as directed. The unit is a 36‑bed progressive care and designated stroke Neuro‑Telemetry unit with varied medical needs.

Responsibilities
  • Observe and report patient’s general appearance, behavior, and response to care, including monitoring vital signs and reporting changes.
  • Document patient temperatures, pulse, respirations, heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry as required on admission and continuously.
  • Collect and document fluid intake/output and maintain accurate dietary logs.
  • Assist with elimination activities, hygiene, and comfort measures such as baths, dressing changes, and catheter care.
  • Perform therapeutic measures including enemas, catheter care, and thermal applications.
  • Reposition patients every two hours and provide 1:1 monitoring as directed.
  • Assist with transfers, ambulation, and use of lifts and wheelchairs.
  • Maintain unit cleanliness, including linens, trash, and equipment maintenance.
  • Respond to call lights promptly.
  • Provide nursing support during pre‑operative, post‑operative, and other procedures as directed by the Licensed Nurse.
  • Maintain professional behavior, teamwork, and patient-centered communication.
  • Attend required staff meetings and continuing education sessions as mandated.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a state Board of Nursing Aide I training program or equivalent competency evaluation.
  • Registered as a Nurse Aide I with the Division of Facility Services.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
