Position: Ophthalmic Assistant, High Point

Overview

Ophthalmic Assistant, High Point — Wake Forest Health Network:
High Point Eastchester Med Plz - Ophthalmology. Full time, Benefits Eligible.

Location:

High Point, North Carolina.

Responsibilities
  • Performs preliminary screenings as ordered via physician including: obtaining detailed patient medical/ocular histories, visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry, pupil exam, instilling ocular medication, and visual field testing.
  • Maintains assigned ophthalmic exam lanes/equipment in clinic; cleans ophthalmic equipment in exam rooms according to guidelines; maintains the physical environment of exam rooms.
  • Ensures exam room/lane is stocked appropriately.
  • Interacts with patients/families, coworkers, and physicians in a professional, courteous manner; maintains patient confidentiality; contributes to a positive workplace atmosphere.
  • Participates in professional development by maintaining required competencies and continuing education hours to maintain certification per JCAHPO guidelines; maintains current CPR certification during employment.
  • Under physician direction, may perform prescription refill following standard guidelines.
  • Demonstrates dedication to patient service and care by delivering quality patient care.
  • Performs other duties incidental to the work described here and based on certification level.
Qualifications
  • MUST HAVE:
    High School diploma or GED; CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross); one year work experience, preferably in an eye-related field.
  • NICE TO HAVE:
    Previous work experience in ophthalmology preferred.
Skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Computer skills; experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
  • Solid understanding of ophthalmic practice and care of ophthalmic patients; knowledge of ophthalmic instrumentation.
  • Proficient in basic preliminary ophthalmic testing according to COA certification.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to recognize common safety hazards and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods; focused and organized; team player.
Work Environment
  • Clean, comfortable office environment; moderate noise level.
Pay Range

$20.40 - $30.60
