Position Details

Pay: $17.50 to $20.50 per hour based on experience (+$2/hour shift differential).
Shift: 2nd Shift Monday-Thursday 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM (overnight).

Press Brake Operator Summary

The Press Brake Operator sets up and operates metal press brake machines to bend, form, and shape sheet metal and plate components used in the manufacturing of truck and trailer bodies. This role requires precision, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards in a fast‑paced production environment.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate press brake machines to bend and form metal parts according to specifications, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Select, install, and align appropriate tooling, dies, and fixtures for each job.
  • Verify dimensions and part tolerances using measuring tools such as calipers, protractors, gauges, and tape measures.
  • Adjust machine controls and settings to ensure accurate bends and minimize material waste.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, work orders, and production schedules.
  • Inspect finished parts for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications; make adjustments as necessary.
Required Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating a press brake or related sheet metal forming equipment preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably truck, trailer, or heavy equipment fabrication.
  • Basic computer literacy for entering production data and reading work orders.
  • Strong knowledge of press brake setup, operation, and tooling selection.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Skilled in measuring and verifying part tolerances using precision instruments.
  • Understanding of sheet metal properties and bend allowances.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic math skills including geometry and trigonometry related to metal bending.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to communicate clearly.
  • Requires ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, crawl, and kneel.
  • Specific vision ability required includes close, distance, color, and peripheral vision with depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment

Manufacturing work environment with frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, noise intensity level, proximity to moving mechanical parts, and exposure to weather.
