Food Service Assistant II – Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist
Department: 11903 High Point Medical Center – Food and Nutrition
Location: Winston‑Salem, NC
Status: Full time |
Hours per week: 40 |
Schedule: Variable, rotating |
Pay range: $18.50 – $27.75
Essential functions of this position may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. If an accommodation is required, the employee will notify the manager immediately.
Duties- Food Preparation: Assist with food preparation including cold food production, baking, grill relief.
- Transportation of Goods: Transport items from storeroom to kitchen, from kitchen to retail and from cooking equipment to service equipment.
- Tray Preparation: Prepare trays for patients based on meal tickets and for retail customers as requested.
- Sanitation & Cleaning: Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas, including dish room. Wash dishes by hand or by machine.
- Deliver/Returns Trays: Deliver trays to patient rooms or nursing unit; return dirty trays to dish room while maintaining separation of clean and dirty.
- Order Entry: Enter patient diet orders and meal/snack orders into computer system; assist patients with menu choices to meet diet restrictions.
- Nourishment Delivery: Organize and deliver nourishment supplies to units as ordered.
- Cash Register Operation: Accept customer payments, maintain a balanced cash drawer, and balance receipts daily.
- Conflict Resolution: Resolve concerns and complaints from customers or refer to supervisor as appropriate.
- Professionalism: Uphold a professional working relationship; practice teamwork and adhere to department rules and standards of behavior.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Education/Diploma: High School Diploma or GED;
General Studies preferred. - Certifications: None required.
- Experience: 2+ years Food Service preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
- General knowledge of cleaning methods, food service equipment and food preparation and service.
- Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor.
- Ability to maintain and adhere to safety and sanitation standards (personal cleanliness, food preparation/holding/service, equipment).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic math/cash handling skills.
- Basic computer skills; ability to learn new software.
- Ability to multitask and problem‑solve to meet customer needs.
