Senior Payroll Specialist

Pay: £34,000 per year (Pro-Rata)

We have an opportunity for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our finance team based at our Head Office in High Wycombe on a part‑time basis. You will work closely with the Payroll Manager, ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of monthly payroll for approximately 600 employees.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining payroll checks and balances, supporting compliance with UK payroll legislation and providing cover for the Payroll Manager when required, processing payroll independently in their absence.

• Carry out detailed payroll checks, reconciliations, and balances to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance
• Process starters, leavers, contractual changes, overtime, bonuses, allowances, deductions, and statutory payments accurately within payroll deadlines
• Ensure compliance with HMRC legislation, pension auto‑enrolment requirements, and company policies
• Support the management of pensions, benefits, and payrolled benefits in kind
• Prepare and submit payroll-related reports and information as required
• Respond to payroll-related employee queries professionally and confidentially
• Assist with payroll audits and reconciliations, maintaining accurate payroll records
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and support the maintenance of payroll systems and procedures

• Minimum 5 years’ payroll experience
• Proven experience processing payroll for a workforce of 500+ employees
• Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll or similar software
• Exceptional understanding of UK payroll legislation, pensions, and HMRC requirements
• Ability to work independently and manage payroll deadlines confidently
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
