Job Description & How to Apply Below
How many mechanical project managers actually get to say they built a data centre rather than a piece of one?
Our client is a data centre general contractor, delivering complete hyperscale and colocation facilities through a single point of contact rather than a patchwork of trade packages. They have handed over more than 400,000 square metres of data halls across eight countries, and they are building out the UK team to keep pace with demand. The Project Manager takes the mechanical construction elements of large-scale data centre builds from inception through to completion, based in High Wycombe with travel to sites across the UK.What
you would be running:
On site mechanical construction activities from first fix through to handoverA site team working to quality, environmental and safety standards without compromise
The build programme, keeping progress in line with plan and flagging slippage before it becomes a problem
The submission and approval process agreed directly with the client and design team Subcontractor meetings, chaired and minuted by you Progress reporting, key metrics and the site meetings where those numbers get questioned
Health and safety responsibilities under the company's policy and management plans
The part that tends to appeal most is the repeatability. Because this contractor standardises globally and localises precisely, you are not reinventing the approach on every job, which means the lessons you learn on one data centre build genuinely carry into the next one.
Who they are looking for:
Experience with a main contractor or a large subcontractor
In-depth technical knowledge of mechanical services
Strong leadership and team development skills, with the organisational drive to hit deadlines
Commercially astute and comfortable communicating directly with clients
Genuine attention to health and safety matters
Data centre sector experience is desirable, as is a degree or equivalent in a mechanical discipline
The package is a strong one: 25 days annual leave plus public holidays, car or car allowance, life cover at four times salary, stakeholder pension, private medical insurance with family cover, two CSR days a year, funded professional qualifications and training, an employee referral scheme, a 24/7 employee assistance programme and access to a mental wellbeing app.
You will need existing right to work in the UK, as no relocation package is available with this role.
