Teaching & Engagement Librarian
Join Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) as a full‑time, permanent Teaching & Engagement Librarian based in High Wycombe. This role supports a student‑focused, digitally‑enabled library culture, embedding information literacy and digital skills across the university community.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging library induction, information, and digital‑literacy instruction for all levels of the BNU community, using face‑to‑face, blended, distance and asynchronous formats.
- Support all library users, manage complex subject enquiries, and provide personalised guidance on collections, research strategies and research‑grade information sources.
- Collaborate with faculty and academic staff to embed digital literacy into teaching and learning, ensuring effective liaison with scholarship units and contributing to quality‑assurance processes.
- Lead outreach and engagement activities to raise the profile of Library & Archives, tailoring communication across institutional and external channels.
- Interpret user needs, analyse data, and contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and service improvement for the directorate.
- Prepare reports, collate and analyse information for university committees, and develop actionable plans in partnership with colleagues university‑wide.
- Assist the management team to implement policy, practice and compliance changes, including proactive advocacy with colleges.
- Work with the Content and Digital Environment team to review subscriptions and course‑related content regularly.
- Contribute to staff rota, including evening and weekend shifts where required, and travel to all sites as needed.
- Ensure compliance with legislative and university requirements (GDPR, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, UKVI).
- Provide supervisory support as required, motivating and developing team members and ensuring adequate staffing coverage.
- Relevant degree in librarianship, information management or teaching, or equivalent experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the post.
- Experience delivering high quality customer experience in library services.
- Demonstrable library management experience, including enquiry handling and collections services.
- Commitment to continuous development and understanding of impact assessment for resources.
- Knowledge of current trends in UK higher‑education libraries and emerging technologies.
- Practical experience planning and delivering information literacy instruction.
- Proficient in literature searching across academic resources.
- Strong teamwork skills in delivering shared objectives or projects.
- Digital literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage workload under pressure.
- Strong initiative, problem‑solving, and data‑analytical abilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication with ability to present complex concepts.
- Availability for evening and weekend work on rota.
- Ability to travel to all BNU sites as required.

- Hours: 37 hours per week
