About the Role
We’re looking for committed, experienced tutors in the High Wycombe area who are ready to step into a role that goes beyond academics. If you’re an educator who understands that some young people need more than a lesson plan – they need consistency, patience, and someone who truly “gets it.”
Who You’ll Be SupportingThe majority of our referrals are secondary‑aged pupils with SEMH and complex needs. Many of these students:
- Have struggled in mainstream settings
- May be out of school or on reduced timetables
- Need structured, calm, consistent support to rebuild confidence
This role is about helping young people reconnect with learning at their pace, but with clear direction.
Availability Requirements- Minimum 10–15 hours per week
- Core hours between 8:30am–3:30pm
- Monday to Friday availability essential
Consistency and reliability are absolutely key. Our students rely on routine and predictability.
More Than Just TeachingWe place high importance on professionalism and communication. Tutors must:
- Accurately record and report attendance
- Monitor and document academic and emotional progress
- Provide clear feedback that can be shared with schools and other professionals
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding and record keeping
Your updates help inform wider decisions, including school planning and external agency reviews so detail matters.
Your BackgroundWe welcome tutors who have experience in:
- Schools (mainstream or specialist)
- Alternative provision
- Private tuition
- Pastoral or youth‑based roles
- Strong behaviour management grounded in empathy
- Experience with SEMH or complex needs
- Confidence working independently
- Professional written and verbal communication
- Resilience and emotional intelligence
Progress here doesn’t always look like test scores. Sometimes it looks like:
- A student engaging without conflict
- Completing work they would previously refuse
- Building trust with an adult again
This advert is for a temporary position. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
