Role Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced MEP Project Director to join a market-leading M&E contractor delivering a major Data Centre project located north west of London (Buckinghamshire).
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the full delivery of a complex, high-value data centre scheme, overseeing all mechanical, electrical, commercial, and programme aspects from pre-construction through to handover.
The successful candidate will join a well-established contractor with an annual turnover in excess of £200m, operating across data centres, commercial, life sciences, and critical infrastructure sectors.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide overall leadership and direction for the delivery of the data centre project
* Take full ownership of the MEP package, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, quality, and safety standards
* Lead and manage Project Managers, Construction Managers, Commercial teams, and Engineering teams
* Oversee procurement strategy, subcontractor appointments, and supplier performance
* Manage client relationships and act as the senior point of contact for all project matters
* Ensure full compliance with H&S, CDM regulations, and quality assurance procedures
* Drive commissioning, testing, and handover strategies in line with data centre standards
* Provide strategic oversight of project risk, change control, and commercial performance in collaboration with the commercial team.
* Provide regular progress reporting to board and senior stakeholders
Experience & Skills Required
* Proven experience in a MEP Project Director / Senior MEP leadership role
* Strong background delivering large-scale data centre or mission-critical projects
* Extensive experience managing multi-disciplinary MEP teams
* Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling, resilience, and commissioning
* Excellent commercial, contractual, and programme management skills
* Confident stakeholder manager, capable of working at client and board level
* Strong leadership and decision-making capability
Qualifications
* Mechanical or Electrical bias within MEP
* Relevant industry qualifications such as HNC, HND, or Degree in Building Services or Engineering preferred
* SMSTS and CSCS Black Card preferred
