About
The Role
The successful candidate will act as a Senior Estimator, overseeing a limited number of developments in line with company procedures, industry best practices, and legal requirements. You will also play a crucial role in producing land bid appraisals for future business stages.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
– Report directly to the Commercial Director on viability and land appraisal production for all future developments.
– Manage the annual tendering process for standard products and liaise with other commercial and wider team members.
– Provide cost reports and key date updates to deadlines.
– Create and monitor budgets for sub-contractors and materials.
– Assist the Construction team with managing prelim budgets.
– Assist the Sales team with managing sales & marketing budgets.
– Assist the Technical team with managing fees budgets.
– Handle sub-contract ordering and variations.
– Track land site margins.
– Attend bid review, pre-plan, and cost review meetings.
– Liaise with the buying function to order and control materials required for projects.
– Collaborate with the Commercial Director on viabilities for future developments and land bids.
– Work with departmental managers (Land/Technical/Construction/Sales) to gather data required for the land bid process through to PTP process.
About You
Knowledge
– Surveying degree or equivalent.
– Knowledge of flatted and house building schemes.
– Good technical knowledge.
– Familiarity with standard forms of contract is desirable.
Skills
– Attention to detail.
– Organisational and time management skills with the ability to adapt to change and prioritise accordingly.
– IT literate, particularly with Microsoft Office and Sitestream or similar land viability software.
– Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
– Willingness to understand and appreciate the wider aims of the business.
Experience
– Experience in a similar role within a national house builder.
– Previous experience working with Housing Association building contracts.
– Experience of working with procedures and producing accurate reports and presentations.
