Working within the Design and Estimating team, and alongside Manufacturing and Project Teams, you’ll prepare clear, accurate steel designs and drawings to support both speculative and live modular construction projects. You’ll be responsible for producing high‑quality steel modelling and detailing documentation in line with project briefs, ensuring outputs are practical, compliant and ready for manufacture. This role suits a detail‑focused professional who enjoys technical work, clear documentation and collaborating across teams to deliver buildable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Produce steel models and fabrication shop drawings for primary and light‑gauge steel framing
- Prepare BIM models, shop drawings, cut lists, drawing registers and supporting documentation
- Interpret project briefs, specifications and contract requirements
- Conduct structural load assessments using approved software tools
- Prepare engineering working documentation and supporting schedules
- Liaise with consulting engineers to confirm structural and design requirements
- Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards and drafting requirements
- Participate in peer reviews and maintain strong document control and administration practices
You’re an experienced steel detailer who takes pride in accuracy, quality documentation and meeting project deadlines. You communicate clearly, manage your workload well and work comfortably with a range of technical and operational stakeholders.
You’ll also bring:
- 3+ years’ experience in a steel detailing or similar role
- A structural or engineering qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Strong working knowledge of Australian standards including AS/NZS 1170, AS/NZS 2312, AS 4100 and NASH standards
- Experience with structural steel detailing software (Advanced Steel preferred)
- BIM modelling experience
- Understanding of semi‑rigid and pinned connection design
- Strong attention to detail, organisation and time management skills
- The ability to build effective working relationships across teams
