Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our innovative and forward‑thinking Respiratory Services as we expand our highly regarded team to deliver an Acute Respiratory Virtual Ward. With newly secured funding, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist / Practitioner to play a key role in shaping and delivering high‑quality respiratory care across East Berkshire.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team providing patient‑centred care in the community and hospital settings.
Main DutiesYou will deliver specialist respiratory assessment and intervention for patients with a wide range of acute and chronic respiratory conditions. Working collaboratively with nurses, physiotherapists, nursing associates, associate practitioners, technicians and administrative colleagues, you will contribute to the development of holistic, evidence‑based management plans tailored to individual patient needs.
The role involves assessing patients with complex physical and psychological presentations, planning and implementing personalised treatment programmes, and supporting the wider team in delivering safe, effective care.
A strong understanding of respiratory disease management is essential, including knowledge of local and national guidance relating to:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Bronchiectasis
- Interstitial Lung Disease
- Asthma
- Home Oxygen therapy
A special interest in COPD would be advantageous.

- First degree in nursing, or demonstrable experience at this level
- Teaching / assessment programme

- Demonstrates up‑to‑date knowledge in general nursing
