We are delighted to be supporting a successful High Wycombe based manufacturing and engineering business in their search for a newly created role of Purchasing Assistant.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced purchasing professional looking to take the next step in their career. Reporting to the Group Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager, you will support an efficient and commercially effective purchasing function, with the opportunity to develop towards a future management position.

This is a Hybrid role working Monday to Friday 8:45am to 17.15pm. You will be based in the clients office close to High Wycombe. The salary for this role is up to £35K dependent on experience plus bonus.

Main responsibilities for the Purchasing Assistant role are:

  • Lead day-to-day purchasing assistant activities.
  • Manage purchase requisitions, purchase orders, supplier acknowledgements and expediting.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply issues.
  • Manage inventory availability while reducing excess and obsolete stock.
  • Support ERP/MRP systems, including supplier data, lead times and planning parameters.
  • Support sourcing, cost reduction and supplier negotiations.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Sales, Finance and Warehouse teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement across purchasing processes.
  • Deputise for the Purchasing Manager when required.

Skills required for the Purchasing Assistant role are:

  • 3+ years purchasing experience, preferably within manufacturing or engineering.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent analytical and Excel skills.
  • Strong communication and organisational abilities.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • CIPS Level 4 or studying towards would be desirable.
