My client is seeking a proactive and solutions-focused Production Engineer to join the operations team and support our expanding manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimising production processes, driving improvement initiatives, and ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support and improve day-to-day production engineering processes to meet quality, cost, delivery, and safety targets.
* Work closely with production and design teams to integrate new products and processes into manufacturing.
* Monitor production performance and identify opportunities for lean improvements and waste reduction.
* Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, flow charts, and PFMEA/control plans.
* Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
* Support tooling and fixture design to enhance manufacturing effectiveness.
* Promote best practice health & safety standards and maintain a clean, organised production area.
* Liaise with quality teams to ensure products meet specification and customer expectations.
* Provide technical guidance to production staff and support training to improve team capability.
The Candidate
Engineering qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, BEng) or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
Knowledge of SMT machinery and processes.
Good problem-solving and analytical skills with a practical approach.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Experience in process improvement, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement tools is a plus.
Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with production systems or ERP software is desirable.
The Salary
£40,000- £55,000 depending on skillset and experience
