Mac Gregor Black is partnering with a global FMCG manufacturer to appoint a Brand Category Manager - a commercially driven role with a strong focus on Category Strategy, Insights, and Brand Activation.
This is a high-visibility position where you will take ownership of both category performance and brand growth across two established household names. You will connect shopper insight, market data, innovation, and activation to unlock growth with major UK retailers.
This opportunity would suit a high-performing Assistant Brand Manager, Junior Brand Manager, or Category Executive ready to step into a more strategic and autonomous role.
Key Responsibilities- Lead annual category and brand growth plans aligned to commercial objectives
- Translate Nielsen / Circana (IRI) / Kantar data into actionable recommendations
- Identify whitespace opportunities, distribution gaps, and promotional optimisation
- Develop persuasive category selling stories and retailer-ready presentations
- Shape range reviews, merchandising strategies, and in-store execution plans
- Own the end‑to‑end NPD pipeline, from insight generation to launch and post‑evaluation
- Deliver integrated brand activation across media, digital, PR, and shopper
- Track performance vs KPIs, recommending clear data‑led optimisation
- Act as the voice of the consumer and shopper internally
- FMCG experience (food or drink manufacturing preferred)
- Experience across Brand and/or Category Management
- Strong working knowledge of Nielsen, Circana (IRI), Kantar or similar insight platforms
- Proven ability to build retailer‑facing category narratives
- Commercial confidence — understanding P&L, margins, and growth levers
- A proactive self‑starter comfortable taking ownership and influencing cross‑functionally
- True ownership across category, insight, brand, and innovation
- Strategic exposure with major UK retailers
- Clear commercial accountability and visibility
- Decisions that translate directly into in‑store execution
