Job Summary

The Group Sales Director provides strategic sales leadership from Central Functions, working in partnership with Business Unit Managing Directors, Sales Directors and Group functions to drive sales performance, capability, consistency, governance and customer experience across the BU structure. The role supports the delivery of Group trading objectives by strengthening sales effectiveness, forecast discipline, pricing discipline, digital adoption and sustainable performance improvement across a federated operating model.

  • Sets and owns the Group sales strategy, operating standards, sales governance and performance framework, ensuring they are practical, commercially focused and consistently adopted by Business Units.
  • Leads sales improvement activity across the BU structure, using data, market insight, customer insight and operational feedback to improve reservations, conversion, pricing discipline, revenue, margin, completions and forecast accuracy.
  • Uses Business Unit feedback to inform Group sales strategy, shaping national sales priorities through local market context, customer insight, product performance and operational sales experience.
  • Drives change and continuous improvement across sales processes, systems, customer touchpoints and ways of working, ensuring improvements are embedded sustainably through clear governance, communication, engagement and benefit tracking.
  • Builds sales capability across the organisation by developing a consistent capability framework, leadership expectations, training, tools, guidance and best practice that enable BU sales teams to perform at a consistently high standard.
  • Acts as a senior sales subject matter expert and trusted partner to Business Units, providing challenge, support and direction while respecting BU accountability for local delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Sales strategy and performance: Develops and leads the Group sales strategy, annual sales priorities and performance improvement agenda, aligned to business objectives, market conditions, customer expectations and Group trading requirements.
  • Works with Business Units to improve sales outcomes, including lead management, conversion, reservation rates, pricing discipline, incentive control, revenue, margin, completions performance, outlet performance and sales rate against budget.
  • Maintains a strong understanding of product, specification, customer demand, sales barriers and local market feedback across Business Units, using this insight to shape Group sales strategy, product direction and national priorities.
  • Uses data, analytics, market intelligence, customer insight, Sales Excellence outputs, mystery shopping, CRM reporting and KPI reporting to identify trends, risks and opportunities, ensuring action plans are clear, prioritised and followed through.
  • Strengthens sales forecasting discipline by supporting consistent assumptions, robust challenge, improved visibility of pipeline movement and confidence in reservation, exchange and completion projection.
  • Owns the Group approach to sales market intelligence, ensuring competitor activity, local market conditions, customer demand, pricing movement and incentive trends are gathered consistently, interpreted commercially…
