Retail Security Officer

Job Overview

Protect the customer’s property, people and/or assets by providing security services in accordance with the site’s published Assignment Instructions (AIs) and any subsequent changes. Deliver results that meet or exceed the key performance indicators and service level agreements, providing a service that supports contract retention. Undertake additional training for continuous self‑development.

• Ensure compliance with all policies, legal and regulatory requirements directed by the Security Account Manager and UK law.
• Complete all tasks and duties defined in the Assignment Instructions.
• Review the Assignment Instructions proactively, suggesting amendments to improve service.
• Maintain the required front‑line licence in Security Guarding or Door Supervision and the CCTV PSS SIA Licence, renewing at least 16 weeks before expiry.
• Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements.
• Follow instructions and procedures without unnecessarily challenging authority.
• Work systematically and orderly.

• Complete all required competency training.
• Engage in additional training for continuous development as directed.
• Use technology to achieve key objectives and develop expertise.

• Identify and report health and safety hazards and potential hazards immediately.
• Stay alert to threats or changes that could disrupt operations.
• Use common sense and initiative to involve others if a situation becomes threatening.
• Maintain professional conduct with difficult customers.
• Record accurate, detailed notebook entries post‑incident for incident reporting.
• Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the client.
• Ensure check calls are made at scheduled times per the Assignment Instructions.
• Call emergency services and the Communication Centre to report all incidents.

• Previous security experience.
• SIA licence.
• SC Clearance desirable.

Pay Rate: £12.71
Weekly hours: 37.5
