OverviewThe High Wycombe facility is a UKAS‑accredited testing laboratory specialising in fire resistance, smoke leakage, structural integrity and acoustic performance of building components. Element is committed to integrity, care and progress, and offers apprenticeships that develop practical technical skills alongside a nationally recognised qualification.
Package- Starting salary £23,500 per year
- 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, shifts 9am–5pm, 7am–3pm, 12pm–8pm)

Under the supervision of the Lead Technician, you will prepare and conduct fire resistance tests, fabricate and install supporting constructions for test specimens, maintain laboratory, test equipment and safety systems, and assist with demolition and disposal of test remains. This apprenticeship provides a foundation for a career in materials testing and evaluation.

- Maintenance of laboratory, test equipment and safety equipment
- Focus and meticulousness, ability to learn quickly and absorb new skills

- Capability of following instructions and procedures accurately and efficiently
- Hands‑tools proficiency and practical aptitude
Attentive, curious and committed applicants are welcome. Previous experience is helpful but not essential. Ideal candidates have a genuine interest in the field, motivation to build a career and enthusiasm for learning.
Eligibility and Apprenticeship StructureApprenticeships run 18 months, with a minimum of 6 hours of off‑the‑job training per week. Training includes virtual lessons, online learning and practical shadowing/mentoring. Apprentices earn a salary while gaining qualifications, helping prevent large student loans.
