Full-Time, Ongoing Interim Contract Are you an accomplished fostering practitioner with a sharp eye for assessment and the clinical authority to present evidence to the courts? Following their recent 'Outstanding' Ofsted inspection grading , Manchester City Council is seeking an experienced, highly efficient Supervising Social Worker to join their dedicated Kinship Fostering Team. This specialist service is focused on delivering rigorous, high-quality assessments of connected persons, ensuring that children who cannot live with their birth parents are safely placed within their wider family networks.

Core Responsibilities Operating within a high-performing, fast-paced fostering environment, your daily duties will include:
Court-Directed Assessments:
Planning, executing, and writing comprehensive, analytical Kinship and Connected Persons assessments within strict, legally mandated court timescales. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensuring all assessment work strictly adheres to national Fostering Services Regulations, National Minimum Standards, and corporate safeguarding policies. Risk & Safeguarding:
Identifying, evaluating, and managing potential risks within the wider family network, applying strong child protection knowledge to protect vulnerable children. Duty Rota Participation:
Undertaking general duty responsibilities as required by the service, which includes a flexibility to work outside of standard office hours when on the active rota. Mandatory Candidate Criteria Professional Registration:
Must be a Qualified Social Worker with a valid, active Social Work England registration. Specialist Assessment

Skills:

Proven, substantive experience in completing complex, court-ready Kinship/Viability/Form F assessments. Time Management:
Exceptional organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and meet strict legal and internal deadlines. Work Structure:
