Description:
The Sponsorof Book Match is responsible for supervising students during Book Match after school from 3:30-4:30 pm. The day the club meets is flexible. Book Match is a district wide program for 4th and 5th graders. The Book Match coach will meet weekly with the interested students during a lunch/ recess or after school time of their choosing. You will be playing games, book talking, and generally encouraging the students to read and retain pertinent story elements and details from 20 pre-selected books.
Collaboration with other coaches at other schools is available to help get you up to speed. Up to 5 after school matches will be scheduled between January and March for your students at other 112 schools. This is a friendly competition and students like attending the other schools for the matches. The matches are run and coordinated by the Highland Park Public Library.
Expectations include:
- Communicating with students and their parents regarding club expectations
- Facilitating students as they try to navigate challenges and problem solving.
- Serve as a mentor and facilitator of learning.
- Maintaina safe and supportive environment
