Within our Retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise.
An Technician supports the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. You will be the first point of contact to assist patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and that caring service exceeds expectations.
Technicians operate as part of the pharmacy team, applying Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication. Throughout their shifts, they demonstrate genuine care, contributing to a safe and inclusive culture.
Upon hiring, Technicians complete a rigorous training program and satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements according to their State’s Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Until these are completed, certain duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager.
Responsibilities- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to support pharmacists in managing patient health.
- Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, offering immunizations, and solving or escalating patient problems.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as putting away medication deliveries and conducting cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting‑bin inventories.
- Enhance team performance by embracing a growth mindset, seeking feedback, and expanding clinical knowledge.
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs, including voluntary travel to stores within the market.
- Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles, ensuring patient privacy and security.
- Deliver patient health care services such as immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and volunteering at offsite clinics when allowable by law and training.
- Complete required licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Educate patients about vaccine importance and refer to pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
- Monitor and report adverse reactions per public health requirements.
- Collect patient information, track, and document for each applicable patient.
- Manage vaccine supplies.
- Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
- If no minimum age requirement is set, must be at least 16 years old.
- If no minimum education requirement is set, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program.
- Meet state‑level licensure and national certification requirements as applicable.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
