About the Role:

Lockheed Martin Space is looking for a motivated, positive, and energetic Payload Program Manager to be the Deputy IPT lead of the Wildfire program. The Payload Program Manager, as a member of the IGNITE and WILDFIRE management teams, will be responsible for ensuring program needs and engineering‑recommended practices are implemented and coordinated consistent with program hardware delivery dates.

The Payload Program Manager will oversee WILDFIRE antenna/RF subsystem and component design activities, including development of component level and system‑level requirements, drawing release, production, test, verification, and integration activities. This position emphasizes a ‘systems thinking’ mindset throughout the product lifecycle of RF subsystems and components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership while balancing technical, cost, and schedule performance.
  • Review and approve program plans, schedules, cost targets, and staffing activities.
  • Lead an experienced team of engineers, analysts, and adjacent functional support organizations.
  • Support proposal development, engage with customer teams, and participate in executive‑level reviews.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of hardware to ATLO, drive closure on failures, and manage IPT payload costs.

Up to 25% travel may be required.

Successful applicants will generally possess 8+ years of related experience and may have a post‑secondary degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant discipline, from an accredited university.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with engineering teams or technical projects.
  • Ability to manage cost, schedule, and technical performance in a program environment.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work across multiple functions and stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving requirements and dynamic schedules.
Security Clearance / Work Authorization:
  • To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Although not required to start, candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Skills:
  • Experience with the Wildfire program or similar aerospace programs.
  • Familiarity with RF, antenna, or microwave subsystem/component design, development, integration, or test.
  • Understanding of spacecraft flight hardware, including radome, thermal, vibration, shock, and environmental testing.
  • Experience with supplier oversight and coordination in a technical program environment.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics and program reporting.
  • Experience in fast‑paced, agile program environments.
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to consider technical, cost, and schedule trade‑offs across a program lifecycle.
Security Clearance Statement:

This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level:

Top Secret.

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $128,400 - $226,435. For…
