Assistant Facility Manager – Exempt (FLSA)

Overall Responsibilities
  • Assists with the supervision and administrative control for efficient operation of the facility, determining and evaluating appropriate member services, and responding to customer suggestions.
  • Responsible for the overall safety and security of all staff, members, guests and facilities.
  • Performs set‑ups/takedowns for facility reservations, gym usage, programs and special events.
  • Assists the Facility Manager with annual budget preparation, revenue generation, expense control, and accounts payable preparation as assigned.
  • Provides, supports, trains staff in delivering excellent customer service to members.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, rules and regulations of the HRCA and governing regulation agencies, e.g. Colorado Department of Health for aquatic environments.
  • Allocates resources to meet objectives of the HRCA regarding efficient operation of recreation facilities and manages assigned budget line items.
  • Interviews and selects employees, administers performance appraisals, schedules employees, administers disciplinary actions, develops and implements ongoing staff training, and supervises fitness area and machines, and janitorial staff.
  • Supervises work projects and assignments directly and through support staff.
  • Coordinates use and scheduling of the facility for optimum use of programming space.
  • Performs general management duties when assigned as the Supervisor on Duty (SOD).
  • Troubleshoots facility and landscaping for appearance and working conditions and makes the appropriate changes.
  • Provides management reports on facility usage and trends as required.
  • Participates in the mission of the organization to “Enhancing property values and creating quality of life through recreation, community events, and leadership.”
Qualifications
  • Hands‑on direct supervisory experience managing a number of employees.
  • Experience in administering disciplinary action.
  • Computer literate with excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co‑workers.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and present data in report forms.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with staff and members.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist and lift.
  • Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted on a daily basis.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain an Ellis & Associates Lifeguard License within 30 days.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, late evenings and weekends.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment background check and drug screening.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field desired. Minimum 1 to 3 years of management experience in a customer service‑oriented business.

Physical & Environmental Standards

Most work is performed indoors in a busy office where noise and interruptions prevail. Work will also be performed outdoors in different types of conditions including heat, wind, cold, rain and snow. Must be able to frequently sit, walk, stand, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, reach and lift, push or pull. Must be able to stand/walk/rove for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours per shift.

Manual dexterity is needed to type, write, use a calculator, and answer the phone. Vision requirements include near and far acuity. Upper body strength is a requisite to lift/remove a maximum of 50 pounds unassisted and 100 pounds with assistance.
