Base pay range: $23.00/hr - $32.00/hr.

We are looking for enthusiastic, experienced part‑time Fitness Instructors to energize our Senior Services program and make a real impact in the community. As a Fitness Instructor II
, you’ll lead motivating fitness classes for older adults at the brand‑new Highlands Ranch Senior Center and other community locations.

• Lead engaging fitness classes for older adults.
• Inspire wellness at senior community locations.
• Create a supportive, engaging environment where seniors thrive.
• Demonstrate safe and effective exercises for both general and special populations.
• Accurately cue participants through the exercise routine.
• Perform exercise routines for all major muscle groups.
• Recognize contraindicated exercises and adapt intensity accordingly.
• Prepare music and curriculum materials for classes; choose appropriate beats per minute.
• Develop and teach class content appropriate to course level.
• Provide feedback and proper instruction on support materials and equipment.
• Follow class format and fidelity as set by the Fitness and Enrichment Coordinator.
• Adapt class format to meet the needs of clientele.
• Monitor participants and their ability to participate.
• Keep accurate attendance records and complete necessary reports.
• Attend all staff meetings, training courses, and special events as requested.
• Set up and break down materials and equipment used for instruction.
• Perform first aid as required, depending on training and certification.
• Comply with district and department rules, policies, and procedures.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Current ACE, AFAA, AAAI, NASM, or equivalent group exercise certification with current CPR/AED certification.
• Specialized certification in Yoga, Zumba, Pilates, Barre, or similar format from an accredited institution.
• Willingness to obtain Silver Sneakers Instructor Certification if required for class.
• Preferred one year of experience teaching specialized fitness classes to older adults.

• Knowledge of fitness, health, and wellness principles and how to apply them in teaching fitness classes.
• Ability to plan, develop, and implement a class curriculum as established by certification.
• Strong human relations and communication skills; customer service oriented.
• Innovative, creative, flexible, and team‑oriented with excellent organizational/time management skills.
• Must be personable; able to handle concerns and complaints in a public‑relations manner.

Requires muscular exertion and/or physical strain with frequent concentration on an activity where the flow of work is intermittent; use of hands to fingers, ability to reach, climb, bend, stoop, crouch, and occasionally lift objects weighing less than 20 lbs.

Indoor (occasionally outdoor) setting with noise and distraction; extended periods of speaking in a loud voice for up to an hour; requires public‑relations skills and excellent organizational/time management skills. Pay is commensurate with experience, education, and skills, and varies based on the specific program. Pre‑employment screening includes a background check and illegal substances screening.
