About the Role We are looking for an Engineering Supervisor to lead our Design Engineering team and drive the development of innovative Single-Use Hardware System solutions such as mixers, buffer management systems, filtration systems, etc. This role combines technical leadership, people management, project ownership, and continuous improvement initiatives to support the growth of both standard product platforms and custom‑engineered customer solutions.
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will oversee a team of Mechanical Design Engineers and Automation Engineers while working closely with Commercial, Customer Service, Production, Quality, and R&D teams. You will play a key role in product development, engineering process improvement, technical documentation, prototype testing, validation activities, and project delivery.
This position is based in Hillegom and requires quarterly travel across Europe to meet with customers, support solution development, and collaborate with key stakeholders.
What You’ll Be Doing Team Leadership
Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Design Engineers.
Set objectives, prioritize workloads, and support professional development.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Engineering & Project Management
Manage the development of standard Single-Use System product families and bespoke customer solutions.
Oversee small and large-scale engineering projects from concept through validation and delivery.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with customer and business requirements.
Coordinate prototype development, testing, validation, and implementation activities.
Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, standards, templates, and project records.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
Implement and monitor Engineering KPIs to drive performance and customer satisfaction.
Develop activity tracking systems and periodic reporting processes.
Lead engineering harmonization and continuous improvement initiatives.
Contribute to global engineering process development programs and cross‑functional working groups.
Customer & Commercial Support
Partner with commercial teams to support business development activities.
Meet with customers to understand manufacturing challenges and develop tailored technical solutions.
Support pricing activities and cost calculations for Single‑Use Systems.
Assist with technical investigations, customer complaints, and corrective actions.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Represent Systems Engineering within corporate and cross-functional projects.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams.
Assess technical feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and design requirements for new products and projects.
What We’re Looking For Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Mechanical Engineering, Operational Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
Or a combination of relevant technical education and practical experience.
2–5 years of experience within engineering, manufacturing, or product development environments.
Previous Design Engineering experience is strongly preferred.
2–3 years of leadership experience managing a team of at least three employees.
GMP and GDP Principles Experience – working experience in GMP environments or highly regulated industries is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, Inventor, Draft Sight, or similar.
Understanding of P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams).
Experience with piping / fluid management systems.
Material knowledge of stainless steel, engineering plastics and thermoplastic/elastomeric materials for pharmaceutical industry.
Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Ability to manage technical documentation, testing, and validation activities.
