Data Center Technical Operations Engineer I – Hilliard, OH (Onsite)

Contract with potential to extend or convert full-time
This role supports the engineering, daily operations, and maintenance of critical infrastructure inside a large, high-availability data center. You’ll be hands‑on with power, cooling, and monitoring systems while helping maintain a safe, reliable environment that meets strict operational standards.

Daily & Technical Operations- Support and coordinate work across shift technicians, senior techs, and onsite vendors.
- Perform daily facility rounds, inspections, and system checks.
- Operate and maintain key infrastructure systems including:
- Switchgear and generators
- UPS systems and power distribution
- Chillers, cooling towers, and CRAH units
- Building Monitoring Systems (BMS)
- Monitor critical systems and respond quickly to alarms or abnormal conditions.
- Use a CMMS to manage work orders, inventory, and maintenance tasks.
- Participate in emergency response and root‑cause analysis when events occur.
- Help support facility upgrades, efficiency improvements, and new construction/commissioning activities.
- Contribute to onboarding and training of incoming technicians.
- Maintain strong adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.
- Conduct equipment checks and walk‑throughs.
- Monitor power and cooling systems in real time.
- Troubleshoot issues as they arise and escalated when needed.
- Interact with technicians, leadership, and vendors throughout the shift.
- Complete maintenance tasks and document activity in the CMMS.
- Be onsite full‑time due to the critical nature of the environment.
- Occasional overtime may be required during major events or projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree OR technical/military/trade school experience.
- 0–2 years of hands‑on technical experience.
- 0–2 years in a leadership or team‑lead capacity.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to succeed in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
- 0–2 years working in data center operations or data center engineering.
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering field.
- Familiarity with low‑voltage systems, network layout, fiber/copper cabling.
- Electrical & mechanical troubleshooting
