Summary As a Welder at Ryerson, you will be responsible for applying welding and fabricating processes to metal and ensuring quality and customer standards are met. This position is a second shift, 2:30pm to 1am Monday through Thursday. Training will be done on 1st shift for roughly 1-2 months.

• Applies appropriate welding and assembling applications in a fabrication environment and processes metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
• Works according to layouts, work orders, and blueprints using MIG and TIG welding equipment; lays out and marks weld points on parts or sub-assemblies; positions pieces to be welded into jigs and fixtures using measuring instruments and hand tools
• Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications
• Observes all standard safety practices and maintains and completes all required records
• Works in a safe manner as outlined during training and uses prescribed safety equipment including PPE
• Other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Minimum 3 years experience in a steel or industrial manufacturing setting preferred
• Extensive MIG welding experience; TIG welding experience preferred
• Forklift and overhead crane experience
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding
