Job SummaryParticipate with the Health Care Team to deliver quality health care to patients, reflecting Kaiser Permanente’s mission, vision, and values. Assist anesthesia providers with the preparation and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies to free providers for direct patient care. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, uphold confidentiality (HIPAA), and support a culture of safety and infection control.
Essential Responsibilities- Assist with set‑up and operation of anesthesia equipment including rapid infusers, monitors, and physiological monitors.
- Maintain and calibrate anesthesia machines, respirators, laryngoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, and other instruments; perform routine preventive maintenance checks and cleaning.
- Monitor and replenish supplies such as soda lime, oxygen, nitrous oxide, and air tanks; manage inventory and order stocking of consumables.
- Execute safety and infection‑control procedures, comply with time‑keeping and attendance policies, and respond to code blue events.
- Participate in department in‑service programs, continuing education, and orientation of new staff and students.
- Support special assignments such as arterial or central line set‑up, cell‑saver device operation, and quality‑improvement activities.
- Apply knowledge of hospital policies, Epic Health Connect, and clinical procedures in a fast‑paced environment.
- Graduate of an accredited Anesthesia Technology program or AS degree, and/or certified by the American Society of Technologists and Technicians (ASATT).
- High‑school graduate.
- American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians – Technologist or Technician certification within 3 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support required at hire.
- American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians – Technologist within 3 months of hire or Technician within 3 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support required at hire.
- Ability to cover on‑call and weekend shifts.
- Two to three years of anesthesia tech experience.
- Advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and sterile technique.
- Proficiency in body mechanics, safe lifting, and good listening skills.
- Independent worker able to prioritize tasks and work quickly with self‑motivation.
