Job Description
Peterson Cat seeks a Telecommunications Technical Solutions Engineer, based at either our San Leandro, CA or Hillsboro, OR location.
Summary
The Telecommunications Technical Solutions Engineer ensures seamless infrastructure, implements cost-effective solutions, and champions technological advancements in Peterson’s telecommunications systems and networks to support business operations and customer interactions. This role oversees carrier relationships, call routing, and VoIP systems, manages departmental budgets, and optimizes communication costs.
Essential Job Functions
The following are essential functions but are not exhaustive. Management may assign or reassign tasks as needed, including due to reasonable accommodations or other reasons. Other duties may also be assigned:
- Design, implement, and maintain voice telecommunications networks.
- Configure and optimize call center operations, including call flows and routing strategies.
- Manage integration of contact center software with company systems like Salesforce.
- Ensure continuous access to voice features such as voicemail and ACD.
- Maintain and enhance VoIP systems for communication.
- Manage third-party telecom project teams, setting expectations, monitoring progress, ensuring quality, and facilitating stakeholder communication to meet project goals within budget and timeline.
- Generate analytics and reports on phone and contact center performance.
- Identify and implement improvements to telecommunication policies and processes.
- Monitor and manage departmental expenses, seeking cost reductions while ensuring policy compliance.
- Manage relationships with carriers and service providers, including contract negotiations and record-keeping.
- Handle administrative tasks such as invoice processing, expense tracking, and dispute resolution.
- Evaluate emerging technologies like AI chatbots and virtual agents.
- Travel up to 20% for troubleshooting, evaluations, and support activities.
- Maintain regular attendance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field, with at least five (5) years of relevant telecommunications management experience, preferably in a heavy industrial environment, or equivalent experience and education. Specific requirements include:
- 2+ years’ experience configuring call queues and trees for enterprise systems.
- Experience with conferencing/audio conferencing software.
- Experience with phone system integration (preferred).
- Power BI experience (preferred).
- Teams Phone & Five9 administration experience (preferred).
- Proficiency with VoIP systems and telecom software.
- Experience with CRM integrations, especially Salesforce.
- Strong knowledge of call routing software and contact center platforms.
- Data analytics skills for reporting and performance tracking.
- Familiarity with AI communication tools and chatbots.

- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
The salary range varies by location and experience:
San Leandro, CA: $113,
Hillsboro, OR: $102,
We offer comprehensive total compensation packages in addition to base salary.
