Augmentation Engineer

The Staff Augmentation Engineer will provide IT infrastructure support for Client’s Developer Software Engineering (DSE) lab computer systems in Oregon. This role focuses on building, configuring, and maintaining high-performance computing clusters and test beds, primarily Linux-based, with high-performance fabrics such as Infini Band and 100–400

Gb Data Center Ethernet. Responsibilities include installation and troubleshooting of production and preproduction servers, GPUs, switches, and software, as well as developing automation scripts for cluster provisioning and configuration. The engineer will also support lab users, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with Client’s security standards.

• Custom OS provisioning (Linux and Windows) for client and server platforms using Client Deploy Commander, FOG, and AWX
• Resolve infrastructure incident tickets escalated from first-level support and DSE engineers
• Fulfill infrastructure requests from DSE partners and Lab Compute
• Provide hardware support for pre-production and production systems (assembly, parts replacement, firmware updates, break/fix, inventory management)
• Manage lab capacity by provisioning new systems and maintaining system lifecycle
• Partner with Network & IT security teams to design and implement lab networks and firewall rules
• Maintain Client's security compliance for DSE systems
• Update and maintain IT service management systems (Service Now)
• Document troubleshooting practices and communicate findings to stakeholders
• Collaborate with Lab Compute to improve system usability, quality, and maintainability
• Engage with DSE & Lab Compute engineers to drive projects
• Perform physical system assembly and component installation/removal
• Provide ongoing support for Oregon DSE Lab infrastructure systems

• Minimum AS degree in Computer Science or related field (BS preferred)
• Experience in Enterprise Linux and Windows Server Administration (Windows 2016/2019/2022; Red Hat, SUSE, Ubuntu)
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in:
• Client Support Administration (WinXP, Win7, Win
  10, Win
  11)
• Experience with enterprise automated OS provisioning software (Altiris, Big Fix, WDE, FOG)
• Experience working in lab and datacenter environments

• Experience with high-performance Linux clustering
• Advanced TCP/IP management (DNS, DHCP)
• Scripting experience (Perl, Python, shell scripting)
• Network file storage and backup administration
• Experience building non-standard Linux kernels, batch system setup, tuning, LDAP administration
• Server management using out-of-band tools and performance tools
• Jenkins CI testing environment experience
• Working knowledge of software engineering practices and testing methodologies
• Familiarity with lab processes and disciplined business practices
