In This Role

In This Role:
As a Linux Kernel & Device Driver Engineer, you will play a critical role in advancing platform performance, reliability, and hardware enablement across large-scale computing environments. You will develop and optimize core kernel components, design low-level system software for device interaction, and ensure seamless performance across diversified platforms. This role requires deep expertise in operating system internals and hands-on experience writing highly efficient and reliable kernel-level code.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, enhance, and maintain core components of the Linux kernel to support new hardware features and improve system performance.
  • Develop and optimize device drivers for a variety of hardware components, ensuring proper integration with the kernel and underlying architecture.
  • Debug complex system-level issues including kernel panics, crashes, driver conflicts, and performance bottlenecks using low-level tools and instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and platform engineering teams to enable hardware acceleration, power management, and system performance tuning.
  • Conduct code reviews, contribute to upstream open-source kernel projects, and drive best practices in low-level systems programming.
  • Monitor production systems, analyze telemetry, and implement fixes to ensure optimal performance and stability.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation and provide guidance to cross-functional teams on kernel architecture and driver interfaces.
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience in Linux kernel development and device driver programming using C and/or C++.
  • Strong understanding of operating system internals, process scheduling, memory management, interrupt handling, and concurrency mechanisms.
  • Experience using kernel debugging tools such as KGDB, GDB, Perf, Ftrace, or System Tap.
  • Hands-on experience integrating drivers with complex hardware architectures (e.g., PCIe, USB, networking hardware, storage devices).
  • Proficiency with Git and kernel build/configuration tools (e.g., Make, KBuild, Yocto, or Buildroot).
  • Ability to troubleshoot intricate system-level issues, analyze kernel logs, and propose effective performance improvements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience documenting technical specifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience contributing to upstream Linux kernel community or maintaining open-source driver modules.
