CNC 5-Axis Mill Lead
Our client is seeking a CNC 5-Axis Mill Lead to support daily operations within a high-precision machining environment. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for guiding work through the 5-axis milling department, supporting machinists and operators, and helping balance training and troubleshooting coverage across weekday and weekend shifts. The role offers the opportunity to work in a clean, climate-controlled shop with exposure to multiple machines and processes.
This role is onsite in Hillsboro, Oregon.
CNC 5-Axis Mill Lead Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate day-to-day workflow within the 5-axis milling department to ensure quality standards and delivery commitments are met.
- Set up, operate, and routinely run CNC 5-axis milling machines, including multi-pallet systems.
- Serve as a technical resource for machinists and operators, assisting with troubleshooting, setup issues, and process questions as they arise.
- Verify machined parts against blueprints and specifications to ensure dimensional accuracy and adherence to quality requirements.
- Support training and onboarding of new team members, sharing best practices and promoting consistent machining standards.
- Monitor job sequencing and priorities to help ensure customer due dates are achieved.
- Maintain a strong presence on the floor, balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on production work.
- Minimum of five years of hands-on experience setting up and running CNC 5-axis milling machines.
- Strong blueprint reading skills with the ability to inspect parts for accuracy and conformance.
- Proven ability to support or lead others in a machining environment, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift between leadership, setup, and production tasks as needed.
- Experience working with horizontal machining cells is preferred.
- Familiarity with Siemens Celos or similar CNC controllers is a plus.
- Ownership of personal precision measuring tools.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds or more on a regular basis.
Salary: $40+/hr + potential bonus.
