Fabrication​/Machine Operator

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece.
• Select, setup and install proper punch/die combinations (based on tonnage requirements and desired bend results), and materials on machines as necessary to produce parts required.
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machine factors, or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control according to guidelines and procedures.
• Load programs, start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance parts, and adjust machine controls and parameters as required.
• Verify conformance of finished work‑piece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
• Store and mark complete parts as required to assist downstream processes.
• Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.

Maintain cleanliness and organization in fabrication area according to maintenance plans and established procedures. Ensure safety requirements are followed with utmost importance.

• Previous experience not required, a willingness to learn new skills.
• High level of commitment to accuracy and detail.
• Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to operate forklift and overhead cranes.
• Read a tape measure, use a square and level to achieve part specs.

• Ability to work in a team environment and take direction with a positive attitude.
• Effective listener, approachable and considerate.
• Punctual with great attendance.

• Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
• Employee is required to stand for longer periods of time.
• Visual acuity, close vision is required.
• Ability to use ladders (2ft – 10ft).
