Companion Animal Hospital is a busy walk-in clinic that handles urgent care, same-day cases, wellness visits, general surgery, emergency surgery, and dentistry. Starting September 2024, an exotics DVM will join, offering surgery on exotics and mentoring externs and new graduates.
Externs will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in patient histories, physical exams, treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, surgical procedures, and medical management. They will also develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. This program is open to veterinary students in their final year, particularly those in the clinical portion of their education.
