About the Opportunity:

Washington County Community Corrections is now hiring a Vocational Coordinator to join our team of Residential Counselors! Washington County's Community Corrections Center is a 24‑hour, 7‑days per week minimum security facility. This 215‑bed facility provides justice involved individuals (JIIs) with a structured living environment, while focusing on accountability, employment, and skill‑building.

As the Vocational Coordinator, you will:

  • Conduct needs assessments of JII's and formulate program and vocational transition plans
  • Work with JII's to establish personal goals and objectives related to education and employment
  • Provide life skills programming and direction for JII's
  • Conduct individual and group education sessions
  • Refer JII's to available community resources
  • Maintain written reports on JII's progress and complete caseload files including interviews, assessments, services, and probation progress
  • Conduct intake interviews and orient incoming JII's to the program, informing them about rules, policies, operations, and the disciplinary process

Our ideal candidate has experience in case management and program development for individuals in residential settings. They are skilled in creating and facilitating individual and group activities, trainings, and sessions, with a strong understanding of evidence‑based practices in community corrections. They demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills, approach their work with integrity, and are committed to fair treatment across the department and county.

They actively promote an environment that values living and working in a multicultural society. While not required to be considered, knowledge of the criminal justice system in Oregon and experience specific to coordinating or providing vocational services (education, employment) is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, social work, counseling, or a related field; AND one (1) year of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field; OR
  • Associate's Degree in criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, social work, counseling, or a related field AND two (2) years of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field; OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND Four (4) years of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field.

Additional Position Specific Requirements:

  • Possession of a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy. To review the Driver's License and Record Policy, please use this link:

  • Successful completion of a background and criminal history check in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules and Community Corrections Departmental procedures and guidelines
  • Successful completion of a psychological evaluation in accordance with Community Corrections Departmental procedures and guidelines
  • Must be at least 21 years of age by January 26, 2026.
