Systems Analyst, IT Support, IT Consultant, Data Analyst
Performs moderately difficult work of a technical nature in the analysis, evaluation, and development of information technology systems and procedures; prepares reports of findings and recommendations; and performs other related duties as required.
There are two (2) permanent full‑time vacancies with the Department of Information Technology, User Support – Applications Division in Hilo.
Responsibilities- Conducts studies of work processes, procedures, and operations relating to the conversion of data to information technology systems.
- Performs various fact‑finding tasks and develops preliminary evaluations and recommendations.
- Develops plans and procedures for implementing automation.
- Analyzes, evaluates, and makes recommendations on methods and procedures relating to assigned projects.
- Designs and develops new forms for agencies to review.
- May develop computer programs as a secondary assignment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree (scan and attach a copy of your official college transcript).
- One and one‑half years (1 ½) of work experience in the research, analysis and design of information technology systems.
- Possession of a valid State of Hawai`i driver's license (Class
3) or any other valid comparable driver's license at time of filing (you will be required to submit your valid driver's license at time of hire).
Foreign transcripts must be accompanied by an official transcript or credential evaluation to determine U.S. equivalency. (Scan and attach a copy of your official transcript or credential evaluation to your application).
Substitutions AllowedAnalytical methods and techniques; principles of report writing; basic governmental functions and organizations; fundamentals of information systems analysis and computer programming; knowledge of electronic computers, data storage media/devices and other peripheral equipment, their capabilities and general processes; data sources and flow, interactions of complex systems, and capabilities and limitations of systems software and computer equipment.
Ability toGather, analyze, correlate, and evaluate facts and make sound judgments; apply analytical reasoning; read and comprehend machine manuals and other written materials; speak and write effectively; prepare clear and concise reports; work cooperatively and effectively with others; understand the legal and procedural requirements and the functions and organization the programs under study; recommend procedures for conversion to electronic data processing; learn the principles and practices of public administration;
and learn the principles and practices of research methods and procedures.
