Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) for a Medical / Adult Med-Surg Unit on the night shift . This contract role requires strong clinical judgment, flexibility with scheduling, and the ability to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Contract Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Schedule: Approximately 36 hours per week following completion of orientation
• Flexibility Required: Variable shift lengths and workdays; no guaranteed hours or shift preference
• Holiday Coverage: Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical patients
• Perform assessments, administer medications, and carry out physician-ordered treatments
• Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes appropriately
• Utilize hospital equipment and EMR systems to document care accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical / Adult Med-Surg
• Bed Capacity: 77 beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:
  • Days/Eves: 1 RN : 6 patients
  • Nights: 1 RN : 8 patients

Equipment & Technology

• Meditech EMR
• Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Wound vac systems
• Chest tubes

Floating Requirements

• May be required to float to additional units, including Cardiovascular and Laulima units

Orientation & Training

• Unit-specific orientation provided prior to independent practice

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years (up to 10 years accepted) of acute care nursing experience
• License:
  • Active Hawaii RN license required by assignment start
  • Candidates without an active HI license must apply upon offer acceptance
• Certifications:
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
• Flu vaccination may be completed during employee health clearance

Dress Code

• Professional nursing attire required

Additional Notes

• Candidate must arrive prior to assignment start to complete employee health clearance and onboarding requirements
