PositionPosition Summary: Under the general direction of the Service Manager, with little or no supervision, the Tech 3 shall perform highly skilled work in the repairing, reconditioning, testing, and adjusting of all equipment sold by Hawthorne.
Responsibilities- Remove, install, recondition, and repair engines and make necessary adjustments on engines and components in systems such as water pumps, fuel pumps, turbochargers, generators, compressors, coolers, carburetors, and cylinder heads.
- Perform diagnostic tests on engines for issues such as lack of power, starting difficulties, misfiring, overheating, oil consumption, and charging system tests.
- Remove, install, and repair power train components (torque converters, torque dividers, transmissions, clutches, steering clutches, brakes, final drives, differentials, transfer cases, gear boxes, undercarriages) and perform related adjustments.
- Perform diagnostic tests on power train components for overheating, pressure, and slippage.
- Remove, install, recondition, repair, and adjust hydraulic controls and components (cylinders, pumps, valves, hydraulic attachments) and test hydraulic systems for pressure and flow.
- Meet flat rate expectations as established by Caterpillar and industry standards.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- PC skills.
- Forklift certified or able to certify within 60 days.
- Own hand tools suitable to perform the work.
- 5+ years of experience preferred.
- Walking, standing, climbing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 60 lbs daily; use of hands and tools; vision and hearing requirements for safe operation.
- Noise in shop and outdoor work areas; work outside and in shop with varying temperatures; exposure to odors, fumes, and harsh substances.
- Estimated compensation: $48.64 per hour.
