Job Description & How to Apply Below
Join Us in Creating an Off-Grid Healing Sanctuary Contribute your skills for a unique opportunity to live close to the land, work with purpose, and grow alongside a dedicated community.

The Fencing Foreman is responsible for keeping Rainbow Bridge’s fencing project moving safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is a hands-on leadership role. The project is expected to take up to one year and will involve building and installing a substantial perimeter
fence designed primarily to keep pigs out of the community.

Most days will be spent actively building the fence, sometimes independently and sometimes with one or more seasonal helpers or community members. The Foreman will organize the daily work, coordinate people and equipment, maintain quality, and keep the project progressing.
Rainbow Bridge has an excavator available to support the fencing project. The Foreman will be responsible for determining when and where excavator support is needed, coordinating its use with the Maintenance Director, and operating the excavator.

We are looking for a mature, capable, hands-on craftsperson who takes pride in durable work, works well independently, and can lead others without needing constant supervision. The Maintenance Director will oversee the overall project and work closely with the Foreman on planning, priorities, materials, equipment, technical questions, and project progress.

How we work together

The fencing project will begin with an agreed design, layout, materials, construction methods, and intended result. Within that direction, the Foreman is responsible for organizing and carrying out the day-to-day work without continuous supervision.

The Foreman may make ordinary field decisions about:

  • Daily and weekly workflow
  • Task assignments
  • Work sequencing
  • Tool and equipment use
  • Jobsite organization
  • Efficient construction methods within the approved plan
  • Use and timing of excavator support

The Maintenance Director provides overall project direction and final approval for significant changes to the fence design, construction methods, materials, major expenses, project priorities, and changes that could affect the larger project.

If field conditions differ from the plan, something is unclear, or a proposed change could significantly affect cost, durability, schedule, or the intended result, the Foreman should communicate with the Maintenance Director before proceeding.

Ideas and alternative approaches are welcome. We want field experience and practical knowledge to contribute to better decisions while maintaining clear accountability for the final project direction.

The Foreman and Maintenance Director will maintain regular communication so that upcoming
work, materials, equipment needs, and potential obstacles are identified before they slow the
project down.

  • Properly tension and secure fencing wire
  • Construct gates and access points as required
  • Work with varying terrain, slopes, rocks, roots, mud, vegetation, and other field conditions
  • Use the excavator and other equipment efficiently and safely when appropriate
  • Coordinate excavator work so equipment time is used productively
  • Organize realistic daily and weekly production goals
