Tax Enquiries Consultant

Join an established team of Tax Advisors and Consultants, supporting accountancy practices with complex Direct Tax enquiries, technical advice, and HMRC casework.

Your new company
You'll join a specialist tax consultancy supporting a diverse client portfolio, from sole practitioners to Top 100 accountancy firms.

You'll work with in an experienced team of more than 30 tax professionals.

Your new role
You'll manage a varied caseload of Income Tax and Corporation Tax enquiries from initial instruction through to resolution.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing Tax enquiry cases.
Providing technical and tactical advice to accountants and tax agents.
Researching tax issues and preparing consultancy reports.
Drafting correspondence and technical opinions for HMRC.
Liaising with HMRC to progress and conclude enquiries.
Attending Alternative Dispute Resolution meetings.
Supporting Tribunal preparation and, depending on experience, representation.
Keeping up to date with Direct Tax legislation and case law.
Managing relevant compliance requirements, including AML.

What you'll need to succeed
You'll have a strong grounding in general tax gained within accountancy practice, industry, or HMRC, ideally with experience of HMRC enquiries.
A recognised tax or accountancy qualification is preferred, although candidates with equivalent experience will be considered. HMRC experience at Grade 7 level or above would also be advantageous.
You'll combine strong technical knowledge with excellent written communication, research, and case management skills.
