Supply Chain Data Scientist

Location:

Desford, Leicestershire

Contract:

12 months initially, with potential for extension

Hours:

37.5 hours per week

Rate: £31.00 per hour Umbrella / £22.50 per hour PAYE

Working Pattern:
Fully onsite, 5 days per week

Start: ASAP

We are currently recruiting for a technically strong Supply Chain Data Scientist to join a major global manufacturing operation in Desford.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can combine data analysis, coding and supply chain knowledge to turn complex datasets into meaningful business insights.

The successful candidate will work across supply chain planning, packaging and transportation, identifying gaps in existing data and developing automated solutions to improve visibility, efficiency and decision-making.

What you will do:
  • Analyse large and complex supply chain datasets to identify trends, gaps and opportunities.
  • Translate data into clear and actionable business insights.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across supply chain, packaging, transportation and planning.
  • Identify data sources that are currently underused or not connected.
  • Develop automated solutions to replace manual processes.
  • Support the automation of PFEP (Plan For Every Part) processes.
  • Use Python, SQL and Power Query to manipulate and analyse data.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Use Excel extensively for data analysis and manipulation.
  • Work with SAP and other ERP/MRP systems to improve reporting and data visibility.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve transportation, packaging and material planning processes.
  • Support cross-functional supply chain planning projects.
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of processes during a major ERP transition.
  • Take ownership of data and analytical projects and drive them through to completion.
About You:
  • Approximately 5 years' experience working in a data-focused or analytical role within a complex organisation.
  • Strong experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential.
  • Practical coding experience using Python and SQL.
  • Strong Power Query experience.
  • Experience creating dashboards and data visualisations using Power BI.
  • Experience working with SAP or other ERP/MRP systems.
  • Supply chain experience would be highly beneficial.
  • Experience with in manufacturing, logistics, transportation or packaging would be advantageous.
  • Able to communicate complex data and insights clearly to stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your area.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
