Maintenance Technician (Paint Plant) - Days & Afternoons

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to help maximise equipment reliability and performance within Caterpillar's Desford Paint Facility. Working as part of the maintenance team within a multi-shift manufacturing environment, you will play a key role in delivering proactive maintenance, reducing unplanned downtime and ensuring critical manufacturing equipment operates safely, efficiently and reliably. Your work will directly support production performance, asset reliability and continuous improvement across the facility.

This position operates within a multi-shift pattern supporting the manufacturing operation, requiring flexibility to work across shifts as required. As a Maintenance Technician, you are accountable for, but not limited to:

• Deliver planned preventative maintenance activities across paint and manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment faults to restore safe and efficient operation.
• Complete equipment inspections and condition assessments to identify reliability risks and improvement opportunities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records within the site's maintenance management systems.
• Support continuous improvement activities that increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
• Work collaboratively with production, engineering and reliability teams to improve plant performance and safety.
• Work effectively across a multi-shift operation, maintaining clear communication and handovers between teams to ensure safe, reliable and efficient plant performance., Preventative Maintenance & Asset Reliability:
  Applies preventative maintenance principles to maintain equipment reliability, maximise asset availability and support production performance. Able to inspect, service and maintain manufacturing equipment, identifying potential issues before they result in downtime.
• Fault Finding & Technical Problem Solving:
  Diagnoses and resolves mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults using a structured approach. Able to identify root causes, implement effective repairs and safely return equipment to operation whilst minimising production disruption.
• Health, Safety & Compliance:
  Applies safe working practices and maintenance procedures within a manufacturing environment. Understands the importance of statutory compliance, environmental requirements and Caterpillar standards, ensuring all work is completed safely and responsibly.
• Maintenance Systems & Documentation:
  Uses maintenance management systems to record work, monitor asset performance and support maintenance planning. Identifies opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness and overall operational performance.

Communicates clearly with colleagues across shift teams, supports effective shift handovers and maintained consistent maintenance standards to ensure equipment reliability, operational continuity and plant performance., Automation & PLC-Controlled Equipment:
  Knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment and PLC-controlled systems, supporting fault diagnosis, equipment recovery and operational reliability.
• Paint & Process Manufacturing Environments:
  Understanding of paint shop, surface treatment or similar process manufacturing operations, including the equipment, processes and controls required to support safe and efficient production.
• Reliability & Specialist Maintenance Practices:
  Familiarity with CMMS, TPM, LEV, DSEAR or reliability-centred maintenance principles, and how they can be applied to improve equipment performance, reduce operational risk and support long-term asset reliability.
